M20 and M8 (Wolfgang Promper's “Vera Rubin challenge”)
The first-light images from the Vera Rubin telescope have amazed astronomers all over the world. No other telescope, regardless if on Earth or in space, comes even close to the field of view, resolution, and light-gathering power of the new telescope with 8-meter mirror and gigantic 3.2 GPx camera. There are telescopes with bigger mirrors, or with better angular resolution, but none of them offer the unique combination of all these features.

So Wolfgang Promper’s “Vera Rubin Challenge” is not a real challenge, but the results achieved with just 400 mm ASA (AstroSysteme Austria) wide-field astrograph and Moravian Instruments C5 camera are amazing. Check out the wide field of the M20 and M8 nebulae captured with these instruments.
