G1 CCD Camera Driver Update

New driver for G1-0800 CCD camera (both monochrome and colour version) slightly modifies image readout timing. This leads to better image quality and more stable images. Other driver optimisations of all G1 cameras enhance readout speed when only the sub-frame is read from the camera.

G1 CCD camera drivers version 2.5.1 enhances sub-frame readout time. Sub-frame read is especially often used when the G1 camera is used as automatic guider. Typically only a small surrounding of selected guide star is used for autoguiding. Due to already very high image digitisation rate of G1 cameras (up to 8 MPx/second), the speed-up can be noticeable mainly if higher-resolution G1-2000 camera is used.

Remark:

This feature also requires usage of the latest version of SIMS camera control program. It will be propagated also to drivers for other software, like MaxIm DL and AstroArt.

Image quality enhancements due to optimised CCD read timing is specific only for G1-0800 and G1-0800C CCD cameras. Users of these models should download the driver from this web site and update the driver in the operating system. It is possible to update the driver by clicking “Update Driver” item in the pop-up menu opened on DC0800 USB device displayed in the Device Manager window.
