CTB 1 Supernova Remnant
CTB 1 nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia is a remnant of an ancient supernova explosion. The nebula very low brightness is obviously a cause it is imaged much less frequently than brighter and thus more popular nebulae.

Nicolas Outters spent almost 38 hours of exposures to get this beautiful image with his G4-16000 camera on 40 cm f/3.8 Newtonian telescope. Majority of exposures were taken through narrow-band Hα and OIII filters to capture nebula structure. Additional shorter RGB exposures were used to assign proper colors to the image.

We recommend to click the image to see it in full resolution to appreciate all details in the nebula structure.
