The rolling-shutter IMX492 sensor, made by Sony, offers several
advantages for astronomical imaging. In comparison to the other
rolling-shutter sensor currently used in C1+ cameras, IMX533, its
image area is almost doubled (19.30 ×
13.08 mm vs. 11.31 × 11.31 mm) and the
resolution increases more than five times (8336 × 5648 pixels vs. 3008 × 3008 pixels); all this while still fitting into
the modest body of C1+ camera (78 ×
78 mm).
Stay tuned for the first-light images coming soon. To get more
technical details about the new C1+46000 camera, visit the C1+
camera product page.
